WILLIE’S CAFÉ AND COVID 19

Dear Willie’s Café customers,

Effective April 18 Willie’s Café will be closed until further notice. The last two days have been mentally and emotionally draining. As a small business owner I have been asking two questions over and over: What do I do? and What if? How do I balance social responsibility, the safety of my staff and our community, and insure the economic survival of Willie’s? Truthfully, as difficult as it is, the answer is clear. Social responsibility and the safety of my staff and our community are paramount right now. We must do our part to “Flatten the Curve.” The government of Ontario’s announcement this morning of a state of emergency ordering all bars and restaurants to close except for takeout confirmed the inevitable. Take Out is not an economically viable option for us, nor is the risk associated with continuing to operate. I trust you understand.

During the break we will not be idle. There is painting to do, cleaning and reorganizing, spring menu planning and promotions to prepare for our return.

We hope this will be over soon and look forward to reopening to serve you all again.
